Relationships
Humans are inherently relational beings. The researcher Alan Sroufe famously said that we become a self through our relationships. Children require adults to develop the skills and abilities needed to function in the world. Without appropriate relational input, even the basic language centres of the brain do not fully develop. Yet, our families and education systems often teach us so little about the power and skill of relationships. It's no wonder that we often struggle when navigating intimate relationships.
We are not taught to manage the complexities of attachment, patterns of need, developmental trauma, sexual identity, or social rank. These are key domains that we must learn to navigate successfully. Relationships of all kinds—child-parent, family, friendships, and intimate partnerships—can greatly benefit from targeted therapy.
At Integrative Psychology & Medicine, we have dedicated over two decades to acquiring knowledge about the strength and health of relationships. We leverage the latest research and therapy skills to help you build stronger, healthier relationships.
Whether you are looking to improve your connection with a partner, strengthen family bonds, or navigate the complexities of friendships, we are here to support you.
