Daniel P. Brown

Consultant International Psychologist
Daniel P. Brown sadly passed away in 2020. He was a strong supporter of Integrative Psychology & Medicine and a guiding influence in our clinical and educational work. Dan will be sadly missed but always remembered.

Dr. Daniel P. Brown Ph.D, was a consultant psychologist and advanced training provider to Integrative Psychology. Dr. Brown was an Associate Clinical Professor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. As an academic and researcher he has served on the Harvard Medical School faculty for over 38 years. In the 1980’s he was Director of Training and then Chief Psychologist at The Cambridge Hospital, Massachusetts. Dr. Brown’s clinical research had focused developmental trauma, memory and on assessing attachment disorders in adults. Along with his co-authors, he was the winner of the 2018 ISST-D Pierre Janet Writing Award for his work Treating Attachment Disturbances in Adults, based on The Three Pillars treatment method with Dr David S. Elliott.

Dr. Brown was an expert witness and consultant on trauma, memory, and children’s testimony. He was an expert witness at the International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague, helping prosecute many Yogolsav war criminals. He provided similar forensic expertise in Catholic priest persecution in Boston, culminating in the movie Spotlight. He was also the winner of the 1999 Manfred S. Guttmacher Award from the American Psychiatric Association for “outstanding contribution to forensic psychiatry”.

Dr. Drown is an accomplished Indo-Tibetan concentration and insight meditation teacher and runs regular week-long meditation retreats.
Dr. Brown is also an author of 24 books on; hypnotherapy, Hypnosis and Behavioural Medicine, attachment repair, affect development, self development from a cross-cultural perspective, Memory, Trauma Treatment and the Law, as well as four books on meditation (Transformations of Consciousness with K. Wilbur & J. Engler), psychotherapy and meditation, contributed to two books of East-West dialogues in psychology with H.H. The Dalai Lama.
