Rizna Pietersz

Integrative Psychotherapist & Youth Worker
My name is Rizna (she/they), and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Youth Worker.

I aim to walk alongside my clients as a non-judgmental and patient companion with respect for each person's lived experience, history, and the stories we carry, which we call life.

My approach is collaborative and slow -- to create a space for curiosity, reflection, experiential processes & a deeper understanding of one's story and self. At the heart of my practice is a person-centred, humanistic and existential approach to psychotherapy. I draw on different psychoanalytic and therapeutic approaches that inform my practice. Our work together will be uniquely tailored to you and what you may need moment-to-moment, or perhaps there's a specific problem or long-term issues you would like to focus on to work through. It is also okay to not know what you need or want in engaging in therapy. I believe that not-knowing is a beautiful space to allow something new to emerge, too.

I can help with strengthening your boundaries, understanding relational and attachment patterns, engaging in non-violent communication and developing an understanding of nervous system regulation towards having a greater capacity for experiencing life and the challenges that we all inevitably face. I believe that we all have the capacity towards healing, growth and change.

I have experience working in a range of residential-care settings in Victoria and Western Australia with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males, and non-indigenous youth.

Currently, I am extending my training as a devoted practitioner in Ecopsychology and Grief Rituals.

I welcome a brief introductory call.

If you would like to work together, I am available for in-person appointments at Integrative Psychology & Medicine’s East Melbourne clinic and online via telehealth.
