Brittany O’Connor
CounsellorMonash University
I am Brittany (she/her), a qualified social worker currently undertaking a Master of Counselling to deepen and expand my therapeutic practice. For the past seven years, my experience has centred on walking alongside individuals and families, listening to their stories and supporting them to navigate meaningful change in their lives.
My approach is person-centred and grounded in deep listening. I draw on evidence-based approaches from my counselling and social work training, while considering the broader contexts that shape our experiences, including family, culture and society. My professional experience has included working alongside First Nations families to self-determine change within themselves and family.
As a developing counsellor, my areas of particular interest include anxiety and depression, LGBTQIA+ experiences and identity, grief and loss, intrapersonal concerns, and navigating conflict. I believe counselling is a collaborative process. My role is to provide a safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, develop greater understanding of yourself and work towards the changes that are meaningful to you. At this time, I do not offer counselling to children or young people.
I see clients at Integrative Psychology & Medicine, East Melbourne and offer online sessions.
